The Center of Excellence in Information Technology Tekwill officially launched its activity on 15 March this year.
The Tekwill Center was created by a public-private partnership project within the Technical University of Moldova by the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), and famous multinational companies such as IBM, Microsoft etc. The national association of ICT private companies (ATIC) has significantly contributed by its involvement to this project.
The Center of Excellence Tekwill will provide both the development of professional skills and a significant growth of prospects and opportunities for employment of the IT graduates, continuous training of IT professionals, and also possibilities to launch and develop new IT strart-ups.
It is well known that the IT industry is the best employer, which provides stable jobs, opportunities for professional growth , and the highest salaries per economy. Although the interest for IT education and career constantly increases over the last years, the rate of IT graduates employment is rather inconspicuous, constituing about 30% of total number of IT graduates. The reason of this phenomenon is the continuous development of IT technologies and as a result – increased requirements of IT employers for the knowledge and abilities of young IT employees.
In this regard, the knowledge an IT specialist can get during the university studies is insufficient. There is a need for new knowledge, which would eeed the programming abilities and reach the art of IT start-up launching and development, team building, clients’ identification and attraction, and IT product promotion on the market, is necessary.
Therefore, studying, learning and application of the best practices and technologies are extremely necessary, being offered for the first time in the Republic of Moldova by the Center of Excellence Tekwill (www.tekwill.md).
The official opening of Tekwill was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, senior officials of the Embassy of the United States of America to the Republic of Moldova, Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Moldova, representatives of local and foreign business community and academia.
